Matthew 17:9-13
“..and they did not recognize him (Jesus)...”
St. John of the Cross whose feast we celebrate today wrote a mystical reflection on “the dark night of the soul.” It is the pain of leaving from the worldly attachment of man towards union with God. It says that the more we are attached to the world and all its lures, the more it is difficult for us to recognize God in our life. This is the real test for all of us.
At times, we think that God is silent or absent in our life because of the many problems, unanswered prayers or illness or overdue unresolved concerns.
Today is a good reminder that God is always with us. You just have to open your eyes not on the negative side of life but on what God is doing and preparing for you. This reminds me of the song “Open the eyes of my heart Lord.” Let God open your eyes and be blessed.
God bless!
